The Killer Cat

By Anne Fine

Humour: 10
Animals: 10
Adventure: 5
Magic: 0
Friends: 5

There are 5 books about Tuffy the cat and his friends.  The first one, The Diary of the Killer Cat, is about a dead rabbit next door and the crazy dad in the house Tuffy lives in.  You can read the books in ANY order and they are all laugh out loud funny.

Tuffy says funny things like "OK, OK, so slap me on my furry little bottom" and "OK,OK, I killed the bird.  So hang me." or "OK OK, so stick my head in a holly bush, I gave Ellie's mother my mean look"

They have crazy pictures and silly things in brackets to make it extra funny.  These books are suitable for younger readers or anyone who wants to giggle. (even adults)

Skullduggery Pleasant

By Derek Landy

Humour: 7
Magic: 10
Adventure: 10
Animals: 1
Friends: 2

A wonderful story about a skeleton detective.  There's lots of laughing coming from my room when I read these books.  There are 6 books in the series at the moment with another coming out soon.  I am on the fifth book which is the one in the picture.

If you like magic, adventure and detective stories, then these are the books for you.

By Erin Hunter

Humour: 5
Animals: 10 (well obviously)
Adventure: 9
Magic: 3
Friends: 3

There are four series of books.  The one shown is the first book in the New Prophesy series.  There's also the Original, The Power of 3 and the Omen of the Stars series.  I've read almost all of the books in two of the series.

These books are about 4 clans of wild cats, Thunder Clan, Shadow Clan, Wind Clan and River Clan and their starry ancestors Star Clan. They are really good adventures with a bit of magic.  They call humans two legs and cars two leg monsters.

I really, really love these books and they would be good for big cat fans like me.

Erin Hunter has also written a series of books about dogs (Survivors) and bears (Seekers)

The Considine Curse

By Gareth P Jones

Humour: 2
Adventure: 7
Magic: 9
Animals: 5
Friends: 1

This was the Blue Peter Book Of The Year.  A story about magic and weird families.   This book would be good for someone who likes mysteries with a bit of magic.

How To Train Your Dragon
The Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III series

By Cressida Cowell

Humour: 10
Adventure: 9
Magic: 5
Animals: 7
Friends: 2

There are 9 books in the series.  The one missing from the picture is How To Be A Pirate which I listened to on an audio book.

Exciting adventures with hiccup and his friend Fishlegs and their dragons.  My favourite character is Toothless the dragon who is funny and a bit naughty.  There are funny drawings in the books which make it better for younger readers.

If you saw the movie, forget it, it is NOTHING LIKE the books.

An exciting adventure about a boy who turns into a cat and his adventures as he tries to turn back into a human without getting killed.

If you like cats you will like this book

These are the last 3 books in the series until 2013 .  There are 7 all together.

Humour: 7
Adventure: 10
Magic: 3
Animals: 3

SciFi and adventure stories.  These are really funny in bits and exciting.  They are set in a weird school in a volcano!!  My favourite characters are Shelby, one of the kids and the teacher who is stuck in a cat's body.

If you like Dr Who then you will probably like these books.
